Use any of the following points to personalize your letter and stay on message:

• Cutting public services will unravel the fabric that keeps our local communities healthy and strong
• Study after study has proven that a strong public service and investment in public infrastructure is the best way to keep our businesses competitive and our local communities thriving
• There is no reason to cut – Alberta is still in better financial shape than almost any other jurisdiction in North America
• We call on Premier Stelmach to invest, not cut, our public services like public health care and education
• Cuts are just ideological, mean-spirited, short-sighted and will hurt the most vulnerable
• The answer is to keep our public services strong, which in turn, will strengthen our economy

Writing Tips

• The more personal your letter the better. Give real examples of how the public service works to keep the fabric of your community together
• Imagine the real consequences of cut-backs to public services in your day-to-day life and talk about them. What will it mean to have hospital emergency
  service cut in your local community? Or reducing the number of teacher’s aides in your local school?
• Recall the devastating impacts of Ralph Klein’s cutbacks in the 1990’s and tell that story
